Flu vaccination
It is time for flu
vaccination now
We have flu
vaccination available in our surgery
In general, people who are over 65 year old, have
medical problems (eg. diabetes, heart problems) , health
workers, personal careers will need flu
vaccination. Individual case need to discuss
individually.
Do children need to have flu vaccination? Some
parents have concerns about flu vaccination for children
since the media reported a few deaths due to flu
recently. In general, fit and well children do not need
flu vaccination, unless they have heart disease, asthma,
immunity compromised diseases etc. If parents are still
not sure about the flu vaccination for children, please
make an appointment to see your GP and discuss it
further individually.
Gardasil Vaccination
From July 2007, the vaccination will be available for
women whose ages are between 18 to 26. There will be 3
vaccinations to be given at 0 month; 2 months; and 6
months. (second injection will be given 2 months after
the first one and 3rd injection will be given 6 months
after the first one)
The vaccinations are now available in our medical
centre.
Young women under the age of 27
years who are not at school, the free Vaccine will
only available till end of June 2009. Please make
appointment and get your free vaccination now.
There is another vaccination available for people who
are over 27. This is funded by the government. You can make an appointment to see your
doctor for further discussion.
You are still required to have pap smear vaccination
after you have your Gardasil vaccination.
Pap smear
Pap smear is usually performed one year after you
begining sexual intercourse. In general, all
women who are sexually active and age between 18
to 70 should have pap smear screen every 2 years. If you
have an abnormal pap smear, you will have to have more
frequent pap smear depending on the result.
You are still required to have pap smear vaccination
after you have your Gardasil vaccination.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is very useful treatment for some medical
conditions.
Some common conditions are: Migraine headache;
PMT(premenstrual syndrome; IBS (irritable bowel
syndrome); Muscular pain (especially neck and shoulder
muscular tension); Tension headache.
Dr Peijian (Peggy) Zeng is a qualified GP. She has
passed her fellow ship examination. She has over 15
years general practice experience. She is also a trained
acupuncturist. She received her acupuncture training in
China.
If you think you would be benefit from acupuncture
treatment, you should discuss acupuncture with your GP
first. If she or he thinks that you do not have
contraindications for acupuncture, then you should make
an appointment to see Dr Zeng to discuss it further. Dr
Zeng is happy to discuss acupuncture treatment with your
GP before your appointment.
Childhood Vaccination
We provide childhood vaccinations. It is given on
Mondays and Thursdays by our practice Nurse Kim. All
vaccination consultation fee will be bulk billed when
the vaccination is given by our practice nurse.
